Nobody owned the football world during the 1960's quite like Green Bay Packers Head Coach Vince Lombardi. After arriving in Wisconsin in 1959 Lombardi quickly transformed the Packers into perennial contenders and often times champions. Using Lombardi's game plan the Packers won the NFL championship in both 1961 and ’62 defeating the New York Giants in both title games. The back-to-back victories marked the first two of five titles in Lombardi's seven years at the helm. During his tenure he led the team to a 98-30-4 record and three straight NFL titles from 1965 to 1967. The Packers then went on to win the first two Super Bowls: 35-10 over the Kansas City Chiefs and 33-14 over the Oakland Raiders respectively.
This lot features a striking single Green Bay Packers 14K gold & diamond cuff link (its mate is missing) that was awarded to Lombardi. The front of the gold cuff link includes raised green enamel with a real diamond perfectly placed in the center of the team's logo. The outer edge of the gold cuff link includes raised lettering that reads "GREEN BAY PACKERS WORLD CHAMPIONS" and the back of the single cuff link is engraved "14KT." A great piece of historical memorabilia issued to the man who the Super Bowl Trophy is now named after.
Comes directly from the Lombardi family with a letter signed by his son Vince Lombardi Jr.
