Beautiful postcard of Hall of Famer Tris Speaker as a coach with the Indians signed across the front in sharp looking 8/10 dark blue ink. The seventh player elected to the Hall of Fame Tris Speaker's plaque there is inscribed "greatest center fielder of his day." The first half of 22-year career was spent in Boston where he established himself amongst the premier players of the era. A contract dispute and falling out with Boston owner Joseph Lannin forced a trade to Cleveland in 1916. For the next eleven years he averaged .354 and in 1920 he piloted the Indians to their first World Series title while batting .388 and cracking 50 doubles. He was player-manager for the Indians for part of 1919 and the following seven full seasons. Unused postcard is in great EM/NM condition with just a little light toning on the back.
