The most viable explanation supporting this baseball is that it traces to a game played in Cleveland (hosting the Red Sox) on May 1 1955. On hand that day was the legend Tris Speaker and we imagine that a foul ball found its way to the custody of one Jimmie Dudley who then solicited a nearby Tris Speaker to sign it for him. The medium is an OAL (Harridge) and on one of the panels there's notated "May 1 1955 Boston at Cleveland" and on the opposing panel is splendidly scribed the Tris Speaker signature along with the handwritten identity of Dudley. The quality of the Speaker signature despite the toning of the ball is uncommonly strong—"9-10". Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA.
