Over the span of 25 years (1942 to 1967) there were 5 triple crown winners. Ted Williams in 1942 and 1947 Mickey Mantle in 1956 Frank Robinson in 1966 and Carl Yastrzemski in 1967. When you consider that another 45 years would pass until another player would win the triple crown it puts into perspective just how great the achievement was. The baseballs in this lot have been signed by Williams Mantle Robinson and Yaz in blue ink on the sweet spot and would rate a 8-9/10. All of the balls show some degree of yellowing.
This lot also includes a Hall of Fame commemorative black bat for triple crown winners numbered 634 of 1000. Facsimile signatures and the year they won the triple crown include: Jimmie Foxx- 1933 Lou Gehrig- 1934 Rogers Hornsby- 1922 1925 Chuck Klein- 1933 Joe Medwick- 1937 Mickey Mantle- 1956 Frank Robinson- 1966 Ted Williams- 1942 1947 and Carl Yastrzemski- 1967.
