A Grade I event since 1999 the Debutante is also raced on dirt at a distance of seven furlongs and also offers a purse of $300000.This lot features a trio of trophies – two that are made of sterling silver from the respective runnings of the 1987 Del Mar Futurity Stakes and Del Mar Debutante Stakes.

The former was a race won by Eugene V. Klein’s “Lost Kitty” ridden by Laffit K. Pincay with a winning time of 1:36.20. The first sterling silver (hallmarked on bottom; weight 910 grams) two-handled beauty measures 8.5 inches tall by 12.5 inches wide and boasts a raised horse and rider on its front positioned in the middle of engraved text reading: “Del Mar 1987 Del Mar Futurity.” The second of the ’87 trophies is a specially designed sterling silver hallmarked bowl (1038g) measuring 6.5 inches tall and seven inches in diameter. It also sports a raised horse and rider on its front splitting engraved text that reads: “Del Mar 1987 Del Mar Debutante.” It too was won by “Lost Kitty” this time ridden by Gary Stevens with a winning time of 1:36.00.

This third trophy is a pewter bowl made by Tiffany's & Co. (956g) that stands five inches high and 10 inches in diameter and represents a victory by “Best Pal” at the 1990 Del Mar Futurity Stakes. The horse was ridden to victory by Pat Valenzuela with a winning time of 1:36.40. It is engraved across the front with the following text: “1990 DEL MAR FUTURITY WINNER: Best Pal Owner: Golden Eagle Farm Trainer: Ian Jory Jockey: Pat Valenzuela Time: 1:35 2/5 Win Value: $231600.”
