The great Tony Gwynn retired from Major League Baseball following the 2001 season. He finished his career with 3141 hits including 2378 singles and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007 in his first year of eligibility. This lot includes a specially designed award made of beveled glass and black marble that was awarded to Gwynn at the Padres 4th MLB Alumni Day on August 18 2007. It celebrates his Hall of Fame induction that year and reads: TONY GWYNN For a career of excellence in baseball HOF 2007 Padres 4th MLB Alumni Day August 18 2007. The piece measures 8 wide by 8.5 high.

A portion of the proceeds generated by the Tony Gwynn Collection will be donated to the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation. The TAG Foundation is a non-profit 5013(c) charity dedicated to creating and supporting programs that enhance opportunities for youth to become healthy educated and productive citizens.
