The late great Ted Williams was a San Diego native who played baseball for Herbert Hoover High School in the mid-1930’s. Always a prolific hitter Williams would go on to become perhaps the greatest hitter who ever lived. In fact he remains the last major league player ever to crack the magical .400 batting average plateau; he batted .406 in 1941.This lot features an autographed 66-inch wide “Ted Williams Parkway” street sign. The metal sign which is painted green on one side reads “Ted Williams Parkway” in white and measures 10” high. “The Splendid Splinter” autographed the sign in black marker directly above his last name. His splendid autograph rates a 9/10 in our book. State Route 56 in San Diego was named the Ted Williams Freeway after the departed baseball star and stretches nine miles long. The Ted Williams Parkway is actually located east of the 15 Freeway and is considered a city street.

Includes Letter of Provenance from the San Diego Hall of Champions. Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
