The great Ted Williams made his major league debut in 1939 for the Boston Red Sox a team with which he would play his entire 19-year career. In his first season Williams batted .327 with 31 home runs and a league-leading 145 runs batted in. It was simply the start of great things to come for the future Hall of Famer. This lot features an original charcoal painting portrait of Williams done by renowned artist Intoy Ginez. Ginezs works are predominantly in charcoal and oil. As a child he displayed artistic sophistication by giving up crayons for pencils. Now his recognition of fine detail is also a signature of his work. The portrait of Williams which measures 15 wide by 20 tall shows a wide-eyed youthful slugger filled with promise. A poignant painting of the last man to ever hit .400 in the major leagues.
