The late great Ted Williams was nicknamed “The Splendid Splinter” not only because of his beautiful swing but also based on his extremely thin frame when he came up to the majors. When he made his rookie debut for the Boston Red Sox in 1939 he stood 6’ 3” tall but weighed just 180 pounds. Williamswould go on to hit 521 round-trippers bat a career .344 and remains the last major leaguer to crack the magical .400 barrier by  hitting .406 in 1941.

This lot features a pair of autographed items signed by the late Red Sox Hall of Famer. The first piece to this lot is a Ted Williams model H&B Louisville Slugger bat. The 35-inch ash bat is in pristine condition with Williams’ signature engraved into the barrel just above Ted’s actual finely scrawled signature in blue marker. The second signed item is a limited edition (#20/1000) framed black-and-white portrait photo of a very young Williams during his minor league playing days with the Minneapolis Millers in the late1930’s. Framed and matted in black and white the overall presentation piece measures 23” wide by 27” tall. Williams signed the photo in blue marker across hischest. The signature is strong and rates a 9/10 in our book.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
