Dodgers second baseman extraordinaire Stave Sax wrapped up his tenure in L.A. the same way he started it: with a World Championship. The 5-time All-Star helped the Dodgers win the pennant and Series while using this Mizuno professional model fielder’s glove. Worn throughout the ’88 season, playoffs and World Series, Sax has memorialized this one-of-a-kind gamer by signing the top of the glove with “Steve Sax ’88 W.S.” in bold black marker. The glove shows outstanding game use with a pounded web from snaring countless grounders and turning dozens of double playes for the Dodgers' terrific pitching staff led by Orel Hershiser. We're sure this important piece of leather saved a few runs during Orel's MLB record 59 scoreless innings streak that season. The Mizuno logo patch is intact as is the custom embroidered “Steve Sax” on the outside of the thumb. A great piece of Dodgers history from one of the most popular players to wear a Dodgers uniform. This piece comes directly from the Steve Sax Collection with a letter from Sax, and includes PSA/DNA authentication for the autograph.
A portion of the auction proceeds from all items sold in the Steve Sax Collection will benefit the foundation named for Steve’s son, John, who was one of five U.S. Marines killed in a training flight accident in June 2022 in the California desert. The Capt. John J. Sax Foundation “serves to support those who choose to further their education, exploration and passion for flight."
Payment for your invoice must clear in full prior to shipping. All items will be shipped from SCP Auctions’ Laguna Niguel, CA office in the order that payments are received. Please allow up to three business days following clearance of payment for items to ship. All items will be shipped UPS/FedEx Ground unless you contact us to discuss an alternative shipping method.
