This is a remarkable assemblage for fans of the beloved Stan Musial - and there are millions of those - a group of autographed photos and a single-signed ball but not just any ball but one loaded with stats inscriptions from the Hall of Famer. Widely considered to be one of the greatest hitters in baseball history he batted .331 over his career and set National League records for career hits runs batted in games played at bats runs scored and doubles many of which were later broken by Pete Rose. His 6134 total bases remained a major league record until surpassed by Hank Aaron and his hit total still ranks fourth all-time. A seven-time batting champion with identical totals of 1815 hits at home and on the road he also is considered to be the most consistent hitter of his era. He was named the National League's Most Valuable Player three times and led St. Louis to three World Series championship titles. Musial was a first-ballot inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969. A good deal of that information winds up in shortened form on this Bud Selig Official MLB ball along with Stan's autograph and HOF inscription on the sweet spot. The other inscriptions include: 10 972 at bats - 3630 hits - 3026 games - 1949 Runs - 1951 RBI's - "The Man" - 3X MVP - 1943-1946-1948 - .331 Career Avg. Incredibly popular as a revered figure on the national scene for seven decades it's likely Stan signed a lot of baseballs but perhaps not too many with that much additional handwritten statistical information added. The photo roster includes four color 8-by-10s of Musial talking with President Kennedy at an All-Star Game each signed by Musial in blue Sharpie. Two other black-and-white photos are signed in blue Sharpie with inscription "Happy Home Run" with a jubilant Musial rounding first base after a homer. Sounds about right. Each photo comes with a Stan The Man COA. JSA cert# D93549 for the baseball.
