An imposing physical specimen with bulging muscles Jimmie Foxx was more than just a slugger - he twice led the AL in batting and in 1945 at the tail end of his career he pitched for the Phillies - winning a game and posting a 1.59 ERA. In his prime he challenged Babe Ruth's single-season home run record won three MVP awards and the Triple Crown. He won two World Series titles with Connie Mack's Athletics and retired as the second leading home run hitter of all-time. As most single signed baseball collectors know high-grade Foxx examples are among the most elusive of the all the 500 Home Run Club members. We unabashedly state that this example is among the finest single signed Jimmie Foxx balls known. His large green ink signature commands the full breadth of the sweet spot of a clean unused MacGregor Ralph Kiner League ball. A faint almost indiscernible year notation 1942 appears on the panel above. The signature rates 9 out of 10 on a NM-MT ball. This ball was last sold in our (SCP/Sothebys) June 2005 auction where it realized a record price of $44400. Includes a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
