This is the official Rawlings baseball Shohei Ohtani hit for his first career World Series home run — a two-run shot struck in the seventh inning of Game 1 of the 2025 World Series on October 24, 2025, at Rogers Centre in Toronto, with the Blue Jays hosting the Fall Classic for the first time in franchise history. It is among the most significant game-used baseballs of the modern era.
The ball itself is an official Rawlings 2025 World Series baseball bearing the "Official Ball 2025 World Series" designation and Commissioner Robert D. Manfred Jr.'s manufactured signature between the seams, alongside the 2025 World Series logo in navy blue — all labeling confirmed by SIA Photo Match as correct for official Major League baseballs from this World Series. The ball exhibits game use consistent with a single game of play and is described by SIA as being in great overall condition.
Authentication is provided by SIA Photo Match LLC, whose Photo Match Evaluation — titled "Shohei Ohtani First World Series Home Run Baseball" and bearing Certification Number 260220M1, issued February 20, 2026 — is one of the most thorough and specific certifications in the hobby. SIA's evaluation covers five distinct categories: Description (confirming correct make and style for 2025 MLB World Series baseballs); Labeling (confirming all markings are consistent with official World Series baseballs); Provenance (documenting recipient Saajan Hopton's presence in the Rogers Landing right field corner, where the ball bounced off another fan's hand and fell at Hopton's feet, who immediately reached down and secured it); Photo Match (confirming the specific ball is matched to photographs of Hopton holding it at Rogers Centre shortly after the home run); and Wear (confirming game use consistent with a single game).
SIA's four-frame visual sequence further documents the ball's complete trajectory — from its flight toward Rogers Landing, to the deflection off a fan's hands, to Hopton reaching down, to Hopton holding the ball moments later. SIA's formal conclusion states that the ball "is properly labeled, is consistent with known exemplars, exhibits game use, comes with solid provenance, and has been photo matched," and identifies it definitively as "the official MLB World Series baseball accredited to Shohei Ohtani's first career World Series home run during Game 1 of the 2025 World Series on October 24, 2025."
Accompanying the SIA certification is a personal Letter of Authenticity from Hopton — a lifelong Blue Jays fan who won his Game 1 tickets through a Rogers customer contest just one day before the game — whose first-person account covers the full arc of the evening, from the pre-game sight of Ohtani warming up alone on the field, to tracking the ball from contact to landing, to being photographed by fellow fans and interviewed on-site by Ohtani's Japanese broadcast media team. Hopton was pictured with the ball by multiple fans and media personnel at the game. His letter is reproduced in full and included with this lot.
Shohei Ohtani is the most globally followed active player in baseball history.
