This is simply an incredible grouping of five stunning oil portraits of the first five members of the Hall of Fame induction class. These are paintings so striking and compelling in their presentation and so mesmerizing in their viewing that the very prospect of separating one from another seemingly borders on the sacrilegious. Each of the five legendary performers - Ruth Cobb Johnson Mathewson and Wagner - are apparently depicted at the peak of their athletic and physical prime exuding a majesty and imperial stature that is widely sought and rarely captured. Each original 20-24-inch oil painting by the remarkable Lisa Ober of St. Louis is done on a heavy wooden board adding a physical heft to portraiture that seemingly demands it anyway. Five instantly recognizable baseball greats are presented here in portraits that are nothing short of enchanting; the backgrounds are linked by an antique look and feel that both wonderfully complements the subjects but also informs the paintings without overwhelming the them. Simply put artwork that must be seen to be believed and adequately appreciated.
Payment for your invoice must clear in full prior to shipping. All items will be shipped from SCP Auctions’ Laguna Niguel, CA office in the order that payments are received. Please allow up to three business days following clearance of payment for items to ship. All items will be shipped UPS/FedEx Ground unless you contact us to discuss an alternative shipping method.
