Muhammad Ali’s first fight after the unpopular Antonio Inoki wrestling/boxing exhibition was the September 28, 1976, bout against Ken Norton. This on-site poster was displayed at the Yankee Stadium venue that night, where the Champ faced Norton for the third and final time of their careers. The Ali-Norton rivalry was a particularly brutal one, with Ali receiving a broken jaw and a loss in the first fight and Norton losing the second in a 12-round split decision. In the rubber match, the two pounded each other for the full 15 rounds, with many in attendance believing Norton the victor. However, the judges awarded the fight to Ali in a unanimous decision. This classic boxing showcard features both fighters on a vibrant yellow background, accented with bold black and red lettering. While posters advertising closed-circuit TV viewings of this fight at various venues frequently come to market, this on-site version from Yankee Stadium is much scarcer, with this one being in exceptional condition.
