John F. Kennedy was able to capitalize on his heroic WWII career and his familys money to successfully run for the U.S. House of Representatives in 1947. He was extremely popular with his constituents and in 1952 decided to run for the Senate. Just as he would against Nixon in 1960, Kennedy was able to present himself as an energetic and youthful alternative to the conservative three-term incumbent Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. JFK won his Senate seat by a narrow 70,000 votes. Shortly after returning to Washington as Senator Kennedy, he married Jacqueline Bouvier. This United States Senate Memorandum is significant in that it was signed by John F. Kennedy on September 10, 1953 just two days before he would wed Jackie on September 12, 1953. The piece carries a flawless signature in strong black ink and has been paired with a color portrait of Kennedy and professionally matted and framed. This piece of Presidential history comes with LOAs from both John Reznikoff and PSA/DNA.
