In the 1980 Finals, an intense face-off occurred between Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and the Lakers; and the Philadelphia 76ers, helmed by "Dr. J". This series, filled with dramatic twists and turns, was marked by the outstanding performance of MVP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar until a game five ankle injury sidelined him for the rest of the games. In the wake of Abdul-Jabbar's absence, Magic Johnson, a rookie, spearheaded the Lakers' victory with impressive stats of 45 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals. Magic's exceptional gameplay led him to make history as the first rookie to be awarded the Finals MVP. Ultimately, the Lakers secured their 8th title.
Offered is a 14K gold ring from the Lakers' 1980 championship run presented to a team executive. The face is encircled by the words "NBA World Champions" surrounding a silver basketball with a .70-carat round diamond in the center. On one shank is the executive's name "HALL" above the signature Lakers logo, the Forum facade, and the final score of the deciding game six, "123-107." The other shank has "1980" surrounding the NBA logo. The inside of the ring is stamped "BALFOUR 14K." The ring is a size 10.5 and weighs 46 grams.
