After winning their first NFL Championship in 1945 the Rams relocated from Cleveland to Los Angeles. This striking Rams jersey dates to the team’s first few seasons in LA and coincides with the first appearance of the team’s radical horn helmet paint scheme. The bright gold jersey has number “98” sewn on both the front and back in vibrant royal blue cotton twill. A May & Halas label is sewn inside the front tail with size “44” and cleaning instruction strip tags affixed. The shoulders have bright blue panels which identifies this as the 1945-1948 era style. The long sleeves have elbow patches. The jersey shows good wear with the heaviest around the collar. The numbers show some puckering from repeated laundering and remain firmly stitched to the jersey. There are some very light perspiration and turf stains found but despite dating to the era of smash-mouth football this jersey remains in remarkably good condition. Although the jersey has no specific player provenance halfback Tom Harmon wore number 98 from 1946 through 1948.
