The 1975 MLB All-Star Game was played on July 15 at Milwaukee County Stadium, which was the home of the Milwaukee Brewers prior to the opening of Miller Park in 2001. Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Ron Cey was selected to start for the National League squad as they defeated their A.L. counterparts 6-3. Cey recorded one hit in his two at-bats. Both Pete Rose and Steve Garvey led the offense with two hits apiece. Mets' pitcher Jon Matlack earned the victory in relief by pitching two innings' worth of two-hit ball. He also struck out four batters.
This lot features Cey's1975 MLB All-Star Game ring. The ring has a large blue stone on top surrounded by "Baseball All-Star" and "1975" below MLB logo on one shank with "CEY" atop ball and crossed bats on the other. Inside of the ring is stamped with the Balfour logo of a horse jumping through the top loop of a large "B." Comes in a blue felt Balfour jewelry box; all elements of the ring appear to be in essentially as-issued and problem-free condition. Ring size is 11 and the weight is 18 grams. Part of the Cey Collection and includes an LOA from Cey himself.
