On Sept. 7 1997 the San Francisco 49ers defeated the host St. Louis Rams at the TWA Dome 15-12. It was a solid defensive effort by the Niners as they kept the Rams out of the end zone and allowed just four long field goals by Rams kicker Jeff Wilkins in the win. This lot includes a painted game ball presented to then-49er defensive back Rod Woodson following the days battle. The balls lone white painted panel reflects GAME BALL PRESENTED TO Rod Woodson across the middle with the final score (49ers - 15 Rams - 12) in red and the date (SUNDAY SEPT. 7 1997) and location (TWA DOME) called out in black. In his only season as a member of the 49ers Woodson made his presence felt.
