The 1995 NFL season saw the Pittsburgh Steelers return to the Super Bowl for the first time since Super Bowl XIV was held 16 years earlier. The team's 115 regular-season finish was good enough for the AFC Central division crown and the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs. And for the second consecutive season Pittsburgh hosted the AFC Championship Game at home by virtue of the Indianapolis Colts' upset playoff win over the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Much of the Steelers success that season was due to its staunch defense which would have ordinarily been led by ninth-year cornerback Rod Woodson. In Week 1 however playing against the Detroit Lions Woodson tore his ACL trying to tackle Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders. Despite the untimely injury Woodson would bounce back to become the first player in NFL history to return from reconstructive knee surgery in the same season. He did so 19 weeks later by playing in Super Bowl XXX between the Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys but only after Pittsburgh outlasted the Colts in the AFC title game 20-16. The Steelers would then drop a 27-17 decision two weeks later to the Cowboys in Tempe Arizona.

Presented here is Woodsons 1995 Pittsburgh Steelers 10K Gold AFC Champions ring. A large diamond sits at the center of a diamond cluster in the shape of a football that rests atop a jet black stone. The words "1996 PITTSBURGH STEELERS" are engraved in 10K Gold around the stone. One shank sports raised lettering that reads "WOODSON" and "CB at the top and bottom of a raised image of a Steeler helmet in black enamel with Woodson uniform number 26. The other shank features a large "A" to signify the conference and "20 16 to commemorate the AFC title game victory. Further on the same shank is a raised image of Three Rivers Stadium as well as the Super Bowl XXX logo. The inside of the band is stamped "10K. The ring size is 11 ½. Its a truly remarkable treasure commemorating Woodsons long road back from serious injury.

Includes Letter of Provenance from Rod Woodson.
