The Kansas City Committee of 101 was founded by a gentleman named Jack Wheeler. The name was chosen because the membership was limited to 101 Chiefs fans and cost $1000 to join. The group began presenting its annual NFL awards in 1969. They started out as NFL and AFL Awards. After the 1970 AFL-NFL merger however they have been awarded to the top AFC and NFC players and coaches. The "Committee of 101" is a national media committee of 101 sportswriters and sportscasters who cover the NFL and are asked to vote on the top offensive player defensive player and coach on each of the National Football League conferences rather than the NFL as a whole. The awards are handed out at an annual event in Kansas City MO and all proceeds from the 101 Awards benefit the Kansas City Chiefs Charities. This lot includes Rod Woodsons 1993 Kansas City Committee of 101 Award. It was presented to Woodson after the committee voted him as the American Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year. The trophy which measures 12 wide by 14 high and weighs 16 pounds includes a bronze statue on top featuring a ball carrier and tackler. The bronze-colored base which Woodson has signed in silver marker and added his uniform number "26" to it includes a repeating 101 pattern across all four sides and a specially engraved gold plaque.

Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Rod Woodson.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
