He did it again. After securing an American League MVP Award in 1982 at shortstop Milwaukee Brewers legend Robin Yount scored a second A.L. MVP award seven years later albeit playing at a different position this time patrolling center field. Having switched over to the outfield in 1985 Yount not only handled the daily duties of center field but he mastered the position in '89 with yet another stellar season in the record books. His .984 fielding percentage spoke volumes but it's what he did at the plate that really caught people's attention. Playing in 160 regular season games he batted .318 with 21 home runs 103 runs batted in and 25 doubles for good measure. In a relatively close vote Yount edged Texas Rangers' slugger Ruben Sierra and third-place finisher Cal Ripken Jr.
This lot features Yount's dual-signed and game-worn Milwaukee Brewers home uniform from that impressive 1989 campaign. The white nylon v-neck pullover jersey with bluepinstripes sports the proper manufacturer's tagging on the inside left rear areaincluding the "Rawlings Size 42" tag (complete with washing instructions) adjacent to a separate flag indicating "SET 1 1989." A separate sewn-on "YOUNT" white tag with blue embroidered letters can be found underneath the Rawlings tag. Across the front of the jersey reads "BREWERS" in archedsemi-circular fashion via royal blue tackle twill letters outlined ingold. Yount's trademark uniform number "19" follows in similar fashionon the left front breast. He has signed the front of the jersey in veryclear black marker just below the team name. The back of the jerseyholds a larger representation of his uniform number "19." The jerseyshows some use but is in remarkably well-reserved condition.
The accompanying white pants with blue pinstripes include proper "Rawlings Size 32" manufacturer's tagging n the inside rear waistband adjacent to which rests a separate sewn-on cloth tag with blue stitching that reads: "89 32-24 28 YOUNT." A separate flag tag on the inside waistband reading "SET 1 1989" is also present. The nylon zipper-down pants are in incredible shape and Yount has signed them on the right thigh area in very clear black marker. The original draw string around the waist remains intact. Just an incredible baseball uniform from one of the league's grittiest players in history.
Includes LOA from Robin Yount.
