Hall of Famer Robin Yount embodied the spirit of a baseball era when the game produced true hometown heroes. Homegrown stars like Tony Gwynn (“Mr. Padre”) Mike Schmidt and Cal Ripken Jr. who stayed with the teams that drafted them for the entirety of their professional careers. In 1974 an 18-year-old Yount was one of the youngest to ever make his MLB debut and he remains the youngest player in MLB history to hit a home run. “The Kid" gave the Milwaukee Brewers everything he had for 20 outstanding seasons. In today’s game with free-agency and impatient front offices loyalty and reliability are hard to come by. A member of the elite 3000 hit club he played a steady shortstop for the first half of his career and won the AL Gold Glove in 1982 his first of two MVP seasons. In the mid-80’s Yount transitioned seamlessly to centerfield and continued putting up great numbers offensively. Few have been able to take on the two most physically demanding positions on the field with such grace and natural ability as Robin.

In 1976 his third MLB season Yount started all 161 games at shortstop for the Brew Crew and began to cement himself as a star in the making. Still just 20 years old he fielded at an impressive 96.3% (his best to that date). His ability to hit for average and power had not yet developed but would start its upward trajectory the following year. In that era teams were lucky to get any offensive production out of their shortstops and Robin was already well ahead of the curve. His and Featured here is a treasure from Robin Yount’s personal collection: his spectacular 1976 game-worn and signed Milwaukee Brewers home jersey.

The white v-neck pullover knit jersey sports proper manufacturer's tagging on the left front tail including the "Medalist Sand-Knit Size 40" tag adjacent to the other Medalist Sand Knit tag reading "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Milwaukee Brewers American League." At the base of the front tail is a strip tag labeled “YOUNT 76 40” to denote the year and size. Across the front is "BREWERS" in arched semi-circular fashion via royal blue tackle twill letters outlined in gold. Yount's trademark uniform number "19" follows in similar fashion below left. The back of the jersey holds a larger representation of his No. "19” in the same format. Yount has signed the front just below the team name in bold 8/10 black marker. The jersey shows incredible wear with very noticeable soiling on the front mid-section and shoulder. A simply stunning gamer from Milwaukee’s most beloved Brewer ever.

Includes LOA from Robin Yount. Autograph pre/certified by PSA/DNA.
