Bill Russell was among the most physically and mentally gifted players ever to play the game and the epitome of a team leader. But in order for him to fulfill his brilliant potential he needed a coach flexible enough to learn from him and insightful enough to treat him with respect and candor. In Red Auerbach Russell found his partner and over 13 years they won 11 NBA championships together. During that time through trials and tribulations on court and off Russell and Auerbach forged an enduring relationship few players and coaches ever experience. This remarkable 16" x 20" sepia toned photo shows Red embracing his friend Bill Russell. Russell has inscribed the photo "To Red Bill Russell" in brilliant blue sharpie (9/10). The photo has a few insignificant peripheral creases from scrolling. EX-MT condition. Includes a letter of provenance from the Auerbach estate. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
