This lot offers a pair of early Brooklyn Dodgers felt pennants that are extremely tough to find in the hobby. The larger blue pennant in standard dimensions (11.5" tall by 29.5" wide) dates to the early 1950's and features a depiction of "Da Bum", the Dodgers unnoffical mascot, standing in Ebbets Field about to catch a ball, with "Brooklyn Dodgers" in lovely white letters. Pennants with the Brooklyn Bum are highly coveted among collectors. When the Dodgers finally won a World Series in 1955 for their loyal New York fan base, they were no longer considered lovable losers and Da Bum, an entertaining symbol of their past misery, lost its luster.The second pennant is a smaller version (3.5" by 8.25") in the Dodgers "Kelly Green" color that graced Brooklyn Dodgers uniforms for the 1937 season, and only that one season. This rare mini pennant dates to that period, or perhaps the 1940's, and shows a fielder next to "BROOKLYN DODGERS" both in white. Both pennant show just minor wear from aging, but remain completely intact and very well-preserved with no holes or tears in the felt fabric. Wonderful pieces of Dodgers history with trememdous display potential.
