Interesting and scarce card produced by the J. Baines apparel company. This European manufacturer of jerseys shirts and sweaters produced the offered "Net Ball" shield card in 1904 as part of a regular series of sports cards issued in promotional packets. The offered card features richly colored lithography on the front with company advertising on back. Accompanying the card is an original packet wrapper with ornate advertising printed on both sides including titling that reads "The Packet of Competition Football Cards". The card is encapsulated and graded 80 EX-MT by SGC. The wrapper grades EX. This is the first card of this type we have encountered.
