After a 10-year stretch (1989-97) of pitching incredibly well in Seattle southpaw flame-thrower Randy Johnson was being courted heavily be several different ball clubs during free agency. One of the teams that was vying for Johnsons talent was the Los Angeles Dodgers. Even though he eventually signed with the Houston Astros for a year the Dodgers went to great lengths and even manufactured this trifecta of team-issued jerseys for the man called the Big Unit. The home white (1998) 100% polyester size 50 Russell Athletic jersey includes proper tagging on the inside front left tail with Dodgers in blue tackle twill script. The road gray jersey actually includes tagging on the inside left front tail to reflect the 1997 season so they must have recycled a year-old jersey and added Johnsons name and uniform number to it. The third Russell Athletic jersey (size 50) is a practice version made of 100% nylon mesh that includes all tackle twill numbering and lettering sewn directly on to the jersey.
Each jersey comes with a Los Angeles Dodgers Letter of Authenticity from the team's Director of Merchandising.
