Offered here is a rarity for ticket collectors: a Super Bowl XX White Variation Full Ticket to the Chicago Bears' emphatic victory over the New England Patriots in New Orleans on January 26, 1986. The only caveat is that it comes encased in a Lucite block making it impossible for PSA to give it a number grade. (The league and many front offices would often encase tickets like this as gifts to NFL executives. PSA used to do letters for these encased tickets, but stopped doing so around ten years ago.)

The '85 Bears, considered by many the greatest defense of all-time, smothered the Patriots in a 46-10 demolition at the Louisiana Superdome. It was an ironic final score for Chicago's vaunted "46 Defense" installed by Defensive Coordinator Buddy Ryan. The Bears set Super Bowl records with seven sacks and allowed the fewest rushing yards ever as the Pats ran for just seven yards as a team. The blowout was punctuated by 400-lb. defensive tackle William "Refridgerator" Perry's rumbling TD run late in the 3rd quarter. The scene of Coach Mike Ditka being carried off the field on his players' shoulders captured the hearts of Bears fans forever.

The $100 Suite ticket is snow-white and super clean (front and back) with mint-looking edges and corners. The thick block encasement, 1-1/16" thick with dimensions of 4" by 7.5", has pristinely preserved this ticket. At present time, only two full tickets of these extremely scarce white variations exist in the PSA population report. Graded VG-EX 4 and EX 5, respectively, we can only speculate, albeit rather confidently, that this would be the highest graded example if safely removed from the Lucite. Unfortunately, cracking it open could severely damage the ticket so we'll probably never know. It should be noted that we sold a Super Bowl III Yellow Variation ticket encased in Lucite for $7,352 in 2020, but there were 19 yellows in the PSA pop at that time, putting this SB XX White in its own class of scarcity.
