This is a fascinating lot from the personal collection of famed sports columnist Pete Vecsey an important figure in NBA journalism for decades and a man who was on hand for many of the most historic moments of the modern era. The lot represents a treasure trove of keepsakes from a broadcaster who traveled the country covering the sport accumulating hats t-shirts press pins and media passes along the way items that make unique collectibles for dedicated NBA fans. With more than 100 pieces in this grouping the wonders are considerable: seven pristine caps from the likes of NBC (3) the NBA 50^th Anniversary and the Champion Lakers with multiple signatures on several and Vecsey’s autograph in silver Sharpie on six of the seven. An array of t-shirts include one from NBC Sports and a Laker’s shirt the latter with a Penny Marshall autograph and inscription. There also are perhaps four dozen souvenir pins most in the original cellophane packaging and a similar number of laminated press passes from his countless assignments over the years many with the famed broadcaster’s photograph affixed to the passes. For those who find themselves fixated on presidential politics there’s even a handsome “McGovern for President 1972” pin that somehow made its way onto the roster.
