Pedro Guerrero one of the most feared hitters in Major League Baseball throughout the 1980s came into his own during the tumultuous 1981 season when labor woes dealt the game its most grievous blow up to that point by virtue of a split season and clumsily adjusted playoff arrangements. After helping the Dodgers into its third World Series against their arch-rival the Yankees in the last five years the Dominican terror capped the season with MVP honors in the World Series that he shared with teammates Steve Yeager and Ron Cey.

In the 1981 World Series the outlook for the West Coasters seemed grim as the Yankees won the first two games at Yankee Stadium setting up a daunting task for the Dodgers that could hardly have been imagined after the clubs historic losses in the Fall Classic the last two times the teams had met in 1977 and 1978. But this time it would have a different ending. With Guerrero hitting .333 and knocking in 7 RBIs the Dodgers snagged the next three games at home and then returned to the Bronx to finish off their rivals with a 9-2 thumping in front of a capacity crowd at the Stadium. Guerrero figured mightily in the final two wins socking a home run in Game Fives 2-1 win and a two-run triple and another solo homer in the concluding Game Six.

Presented here is Pedro Guerreros personal 1981 Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Championship trophy. The 12 tall trophy features brass pennants with team names around the perimeter of a large brass circle with a crown finial. Yankees and Dodgers enameled World Series press pin facades adorn the center area. A brass band on the base reads Los Angeles Dodgers World Championship Trophy Presented by The Commissioner of Baseball October 28 1981 Pedro Guerrero in black lettering on the front. Desirable trophy belonging to one of if not the key contributor to the Dodgers first World Series title since 1965. EX-MT to NM condition.
