The Fifth NHL All-Star Game took place at Maple Leaf Gardens home of the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 9 1951. Two teams of All-Star players played to a 2–2 tie. This year saw a new format and had the First Team All-Stars and the Second Team All-Stars being the cores of the two teams playing in the All-Star game with the reserves for the First Team consisting of players on American-based teams and the Second Team reserves consisting of Habs and Leafs. Because of the new format the First Team All-Stars wore red jerseys while the Second Team wore white ones. Such players as Ted Lindsay Gordie Howe Charlie Rayner Ted Kennedy and others were voted to the starting roster that year.

This lot features (2) exceedingly rare 1951 NHL All-Star Game crest patches. One is red with white letters the other reversed with a white background and red letters. Both thickly embroidered All-Star crests were worn on the front of the jerseys with the players numbers on the back. Both come are in NM condition with no fraying present and retaining bold original color. We have no knowledge from which jersey either patch originated.
