Babe Ruth may have retired a few short years before this sign was displayed in stores in 1939, but he had smoothly transitioned to being a living legend in his post-career life. In fact, that was the same year he spoke at Lou Gehrig Appreciation Day at Yankee Stadium. The Sultan of Swat promotes Red Rock Cola on this pair of incredibly clean examples of a paper proof and die-cut advertising signs. The Babe appears to be in the clouds, and "Babe Ruth Says Drink Red Rock Cola." The sign on the left has no visible flaws, while the sign on the right appears to have a cutout shaped like a soda bottle lid. The cardboard version of this sign is sometimes reproduced but this is the original one which is offered in better condition than any other we have seen. The accompanying paper proof version is the only one of its kind that we have seen and so far as our consigner and we are aware, this is the only known example of the paper proof version in existence.
