When Ozzie brought his wizardry to the place where it was really needed - Wall Street - the denizens of high finance took note of the occasion by handing him an ornate gavel to mark the closing of the January 28 2002 session and handed him 10-oz. silver pewter medallion to commemorate his effort. The 10-inch gavel is made of wood and pewter with ornate detailing on the know and the mallet end. It comes in a 12-by-6-inch polished wood box complete with black felt padding and a silver-plated plaque that notes his name closing ceremony and date and New York Stock Exchange. The accompanying medallion is 3 inches in diameter with silver highlights depicting the statue on the bull on Wall Street on one side and an engraved image of the New York Stock Exchange 1792 on the other side. The front side states: "Ozzie Smith Closing Bell Ceremony January 28 2002." Medallion comes in "NYSE" felt-backed 4-inch-square display box with silver trim. Medallion gavel and display box appear to be in as-issued condition and problem free.
