An unused torch originally manufactured for the Los Angeles 1984 Summer Olympics Torch Relay. The aluminum torch is approximately 23 inches in length and was designed with a brass finish and leather handle to give it an antique look. Etched on the top ring of the torch are the words of the Olympic motto "Citius Altius Fortius" with the Olympic rings between each word. Etched below the top ring on the exterior of the main bowl of the torch and below each of the Olympic Rings on the top ring are images of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. A brass finished ring is affixed to the leather handle that reads "Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad/ Los Angeles 1984." A brass finished cap is at the end of the torch with the 1984 Summer Olympics logo etched into it. The torch is accompanied by a black leather vinyl carrying case and by its original manufacturer's shipping box from Turner Industries Inc. of Irwindale California. A 4-by-11-inch 16-page brochure is included offering operating and safety instructions for the torch which has never been used. Indeed all elements seem to be in pristine and essentially as-issued condition. While it has been reported that 5000 torches were made for the relay the serial number for this torch is written on the outside of the box as "5551." Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Helms/LA 84 Collection.
