This lot offers a unique, 1-of-1 customized display card showcasing cut signatures from the first three members of Major League Baseball's elite 500 Home Run Club. From top to bottom, the card front features images of Babe Ruth (714 home runs), Jimmie Foxx (534 HR), and Mel Ott (511 HR) followed by their autographs. The approx. 5x7-inch card is entitled “Original 500 Home Run Club” as each member of this trio surpassed the hallowed 500 homer plateau on the following dates: Ruth (Aug. 11, 1929); Foxx (Sept. 24, 1940); and Ott (Aug. 1, 1945). Ruth's signature is done in 6/10 pencil. Foxx signed his in 8/10 black ink. Ott's pencil autograph rates 7/10 in our book. The card back boasts a logo sporting crossed bats and a baseball that simply reads “HOME RUN CLUB.” We have never seen one of these before, and whoever put it together has an eye for creative design. All three cut signatures on the customized card have been authenticated and slabbed by PSA/DNA.
Payment for your invoice must clear in full prior to shipping. All items will be shipped from SCP Auctions’ Laguna Niguel, CA office in the order that payments are received. Please allow up to three business days following clearance of payment for items to ship. All items will be shipped UPS/FedEx Ground unless you contact us to discuss an alternative shipping method.
