On October 12, 2016, Diego Maradona played in "The United for Peace" (Uniti per la Pace) charity football match at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy. Promoted by Pope Francis through the Schools for Encounter foundation, the purpose of the event was to raise funds for victims of the 2016 Amatrice earthquake. The magnitude 6.2 quake in central Italy that wiped out nearly the entire town of Amatrice and contributed to the death of 299 people.

At 55 years old, Maradona captained the blue side and showed he had some skill left that rather stout frame. Ronaldinho served as captain of the white side, which won the exhibition by a close 4-3 margin. Other notable participants were Francesco Totti, Cafu, and Hernán Crespo.

These offered Puma cleats were issued to Diego Maradona for this special charity match. Diego has signed the outer toes of each in gold marker with his number "10" inscribed.
