Following a 5-3 win in Game 5 of the 1955 World Series at Ebbets Field, Brooklyn Dodgers outfielders Duke Snider and Sandy Amoros struck up this playful pose in the clubhouse, smiling ear-to-ear. Amoros homered in the second inning while Snider went deep in both the third and fifth innings, with all three long balls surrendered by Yankees starter Bob Grim. Although the Yanks would win Game 6 to extend the series, Brooklyn starter Johnny Podres hurled an epic shutout in Game 7 to give 'Dem Bums their first World Series title. The Cuba-born Amoros, one of the fastest players of his era, saved the day for Podres and the Dodgers in the sixth, robbing Yogi Berra on a diving catch down the left field line and then doubling up the runner at first.Snapped by notable New York photographer Jack Balletti, this PSA/DNA Type 1 photo has such high resolution that you can clearly see the sweat on Amoros' neck. The reverse has a detailed paper caption with a faded International News stamp below. There are no condition issues to speak of.DATE: October 2, 1955GENERATION: First (printed from original negative)PHOTOGRAPHER: Jack BallettiPRESS: International NewsSIZE: 7 x 9CONDITION: MintAUTHENTICATION: PSA/DNA Type 1 Encapsulated
