Ticket Stub to the controversial November 22 1898 heavyweight fight between former World Heavyweight Champion James J. Corbett and challenger Tom Sharkey. Sharkey manhandled the shifty and elusive Corbett and seemed to have the fight well in hand. In the 9th round Sharkey threw Corbett to the ground and continued to hit him with hard punches to the head and body. Victory seemed to be his when one of Corbett's seconds jumped into the ring. The referee immediately disqualified Corbett and awarded the bout to Sharkey. The offered stub is crease free and appears to rate about VG-EX condition. Some light staining along the left edge with a couple of very small areas of soiling on the back. Still packs a lot of eye appeal. This is the only ticket PSA has handled from that 1898 heavyweight fight.
