Vintage 3 3/4" by 5 3/4" small spiral notebook containing 28 autographs most collected on June 12 1939 the day the National Baseball hall of Fame was dedicated. Signatures were collected in person by our consignor who was 12 years old at the time and lived directly across the street from Cooper Park the Alfred Corning Clark Gymnasium and the new Baseball Hall of Fame. His father served on two Baseball Centennial Committees at the time of the dedication. On the front inside page written in pencil is "Autograph taken June 12 1939 Monday The 'Cavalcade of Baseball'". Turning the first page we find the signatures of Lieut. Daniel Doubleday* Wm. H. Doubleday Charles Gehringer Hank Greenberg Tris Speaker Frank Hayes Cy Young* and George Sisler. The next page finds Lloyd Waner Carl Hubbell Arky Vaughan Stanley hack Joe Medwick Bill Jurges Johnny Vander Meer and Connie Mack. On the back of this page are Lefty Grove and Tommy Thompson. The next page contains Babe Ruth Terry Moore W. B. McKechnie and Mrs. Eddie Collins. On the next page is "June 13 1941 Cincinnati vs. Cleveland". Flipping this page is "Mike McCormick". On a page in the center of the book are "Bill Knickerbocker Bill Dickey John Schulte Tom Henrich Buddy Rosar Steve Sundra and Jack Powell". All are in very strong 9/10 overall looking pencil with a couple in vintage 9/10 black ink marked with an *. The notebook includes a 3-page typed letter from the consignor explaining how he originally collected all the signatures. A truly one-of-a-kind autograph collection marking one of the more important dates in baseball history.
