Baseball's all-time strikeout leader Nolan Ryan was in many ways the most remarkable pitcher ever to play the game. Among the unprecedented milestones achieved throughout his 27-year career is a major-league record seven no-hitters. This ball was used in the last of those no-hit games pitched by Ryan on May 1st 1991 against the Toronto Blue Jays. The seventh no-hitter of his amazing career may have been his best. It was certainly the most rewarding according to Ryan because it came at Arlington Stadium on Fan Appreciation night and was considered by him to be a special gift to the home fans. This ball was obtained by second base umpire John Shulock who held it as a keepsake after working that very game. Shulock had Ryan sign the ball on a side panel underneath the notation "#7". The date "5/1/91" has been penned beneath the Rawlings logo. Appropriate wear and soiling from game use is evident. A letter of provenance signed by Shulock accompanies the ball. Additional LOAs from JSA and PSA/DNA. Also has special engraved glass display case.
