This is certainly one of the most iconic boxing photos extant. A veryyoung and ferocious Muhammad Ali towers over a prostrate Sonny Listonduring their May 25 1965 championship match. Aliwas a heavy underdog when he met Sonny Liston for the heavyweightchampionship on February 25 1964 at Miami Beach FL but he won thefight when Liston failed to come out for the 8th round claiming ashoulder injury. In the very first minute of the first round of theirMay 25 1965 rematch at Lewiston ME Ali knocked Liston out with apunch that few observers even saw and only photographer Neil Leifermanaged to capture the moment perfectly. This photo is professionallyenlarged to a size of 30" by 40" and represents Leifer’squintessential work in black and white. Ali has autographed the left side in bold silver Sharpie and his signature has been graded Mint 9 by the experts at PSA/DNA.
