Close your eyes and picture the great Red Sox ball clubs of the mid-1970's most notably that giddy summer and fall of 1975 and you'll see a ferocious Luis Tiant whirling about on the mound turning his back to the hitter as he faces centerfield before delivering a nasty slider. If Tiant ever peeked at that moment he would have seen another All-Star center fielder Fred Lynn readying for whatever came his way in the unlikely event the bewildered batter was able to effectively connect against the legendary Cuban. Here then are marvelous Red Sox caps from the period attributed to those two Boston giants caps that each show excellent game wear but remain in superior condition lo these four decades hence. The Tiant cap has the iconic Boston Olde English "B" on the front in navy blue and white embroidery with the appropriate New Era label at the back of the inside headband and an adjacent Size 7 ½ flag tag. Tiant's No. 23 is handwritten in black marker on the underside of the famed black brim minimal fraying of any of the stitching and only two small holes on the red wool panels of the cap. The cap attributed to Lynn has the matching Boston Olde English "B" on the front with Pro KM labeling on the inside of the headband and Pro Cap stamping and Size 7 ¼ alongside. There is minimal fraying of any of the stitching and one visible hole on the black section of the front of the brim.
