On March 25, 1985, Sports Illustrated published a landmark cover story announcing that Commissioner Peter Ueberroth had reinstated Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle — two of the game's immortals who had been banned from official baseball for their casino associations. The resulting cover image became one of the most recognizable in SI history, depicting both legends alongside Ueberroth under the headline "Welcome Home!"

 

This newsstand edition has been signed by both cover subjects: Mantle adds his signature in blue ink across the upper portion of the cover, while Mays signs boldly in black ink across his own image below. Encapsulated by PSA with a magazine grade of 6.0 and PSA/DNA-authenticated autographs graded 8. A historically significant dual-signed magazine documenting one of baseball's great moments of reconciliation.
