Mickey Mantle was one of Major League Baseballs most storied players. Not only was he a home run hitting machine with 536 round-trippers to his credit but he could hit from both sides of the plate and was a speedster on the base paths especially during his early days. He came up in 1951 and eventually retired from the game following the 1968 season but along the way captured three American League MVP awards (1956 57 and 62) and won a total of seven World Series titles with the New York Yankees in 12 trips to the Fall Classic. Mantles storied career is captured in his autobiography written with the help of Herb Gluck. Brimming with the nostalgia and the detail that baseball fans love The Mick is a 248-page stunningly candid self-portrait of a true American legend. This lot includes a copy of the hard-cover book complete with Mickey Mantles signature in black marker two pages in.
