Its only modest hyperbole to describe these two items as the cornerstone of an entire memorabilia collecting genre: single-signed baseballs from Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle or make it Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio depending upon whom you think you should should get top billing. Either way the baseballs in question are the hobbys equivalent of the Holy Grail or at the very least the cats pajamas. Joe and Mickey helped launch the autograph collecting craze by signing such things at early card shows around the country and its fair to say that no matter how many of these they signed the demand will always far outstrip the supply. The Mantle baseball offered here is a handsome Official American League Bobby Brown ball with a blazing blue ballpoint Mantle autograph on the sweet spot. Baseball comes in a circular plastic cube and all elements are problem-free and seemingly asissued. The DiMaggio baseball is indistinguishable from the former ball save only for the Gene Budig facsimile signature rather than Brown. Joe has penned an elegant blue ballpoint signature on the sweet spot adding in his careful hand HOF 55 and the edition number 53/361 that was obviously determined by his career home run total. Ball has DiMaggios own authentication hologram affixed near the Rawlings trademark and comes housed in a plastic cube. Here then is hobby royalty in every sense of the word quite properly paired together here.
