Two of the most beloved power-hitting sluggers in all of Major League Baseballs history comprise this lot of commemorative lumber. The first Mickey Mantle was a New York Yankees icon who helped the Bronx Bombers reach 12 World Series and win seven world championships during his prolific career. A switch-hitter Mantle could hit with equal from either side of the plate and launched a total of 536 round-trippers during his 18-year career. The second Hank Aaron was the man who broke Babe Ruths longstanding home run record of 714 career dingers by belting a memorable moon shot off L.A. Dodgers starter Al Downing on April 8 1974 in Atlanta before a home crowd of 53775. Aaron hit exactly 40 more home runs before retiring after the 1976 season to finish his Hall of Fame career with a total of 755 home runs.
This lot features a pair of autographed specially engraved and limited-edition commemorative Louisville Slugger bats honoring both players monumental achievements at the plate. The Mantle bat which measures 35 long is engraved on the barrel with the following text: Commemorating 536 Lifetime Home Runs Limited Edition 1985 16 of 536. Mantle has also signed the bat barrel in perfect blue marker right underneath his engraved name. Aarons bat which stretches 34 long is stamped on the barrel with the following text: HOME RUN KING HANK AARON 755 CAREER HOME RUNS. Team logos for the Braves and the Brewers who Aaron played his final two seasons with flank the text. The MLB logo finishes off the barrel with the Limited-edition notation 260 of 755 underneath it. Aaron has signed his name in dark blue marker on the barrel right above the special engraving. A great pair of commemorative bats to salute a great pair of home run hitters.
