This is the actual RIAA certified gold album award presented to Michael Jackson for his collaboration on “Weird Al” Yankovic in 3-D surpassing 500000 copies sold. The 1984 album included Weird Al’s hit single “Eat It”--a parity of Jackson’s “Beat It”--and eventually went platinum with over one million copies sold. Victor Willis lead singer and songwriter of Village People ("Y.M.C.A.") purchased this from the Michael Jackson Family Collection in Guernsey’s live auction at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on May 31 2007.

The display piece is framed to overall dimensions of 17"by 26" with a gold vinyl record of the aforementioned album at center. On the bottom left is an image of the album cover and on the bottom left is the official RIAA(Recording Industry Association of America) Certified Sales Award plaque describing the awardand its recipient.

In his detailed letter of provenance Willis states "I got to know Michael and his family on a personal level. My band just so happened to be performing in Las Vegas that weekend so I thought I’d check out the auction. I ended up participating and won this lot as well as a few other album awards presented to Michael and his family members. Each award is a 1 of 1 edition made only for its recipient. That’s what makes each one so unique and valuable."

Includes LOA from Victor Willis original lead singer and songwriter for Village People.
