The 1952 World Series pitted a tried and true 3-time defending champions New York Yankees against their cross town rival Brooklyn Dodgers. The seven game series brought a 4th consecutive title home to the Yankees tying the mark they set during their run from 1936-1939.  The series was undoubtedly saved by a massive homerun by Mickey Mantle in the 8th inning of game 6 and a miraculous catch by second basemen Billy Martin securing a two run lead during game 7.  All of this was captured by “the voice of the Yankees” Mel Allen on what is believed to be the oldest surviving NBC telecasts of the World Series.

Mel brought his charisma to the Yankee microphone. He coined phrases such as “Going going gone” and “How about that?” These catchphrases have become commonplace in American language and culture thanks to Mel’s warm personality being filtered through radio and television waves during America’s favorite pastime. Any real Yankee fan would attest that Mel is as much of a Yankee as any of the players on the field ever were and that’s part of what makes this piece of Championship memorabilia so special.

This very rare Mel Allen 1952 New York Yankees World Series ring is a beautifully crafted piece of jewelry. The top of the ring features an inset diamond solitaire encircled with “New York Yankees World Champions” lettering. The interior is marked “Balfour 14K” along with “Mel Allen” in cursive. This ring is in outstanding condition and boasts little to no surface wear.  The beloved broadcaster is still revered to this date by Yankees fans and his broadcast cohorts.
