After his monster NL ROY splash in 2019 with a Major League rookie-record 53 home runs, Pete Alonso has settled into his role as the New York Mets’ reliable slugging first baseman amicably known as the “Polar Bear.” In 2022, Alonso jacked another 40 homers and led the Senior Circuit with 131 RBI for the 101-61 Mets.Featured here is one of Pete’s home run bats from that campaign. As documented by the photo-matching paperwork from Game Used Gamers, Alonso used this piece of lumber from May 2-5. He went 5-for-14 overall with two doubles, three runs scored, and a home run on May 3rd in a 3-0 win over the rival Atlanta Braves. The big fly was his fifth of the season and #111 in his career.The Dove Tail Bats professional model bat exhibits heavy use with a handle crack. The handle is customized with Lizard Skins grip and the knob end is designed at an angle to the Polar Bear’s liking. A piece of tape holds the crack together at the upper handle. The birch bat, measuring 34” and weighing 34 ounces, has a heavy coat of pine tar on the upper handle. The barrel is pounded with ball contact marks and cleat marks.An MLB Authentication hologram (YP 061905) confirming game use to 5/5/22 (when the bat was cracked) is affixed to the barrel. Includes LOAs from John Taube of PSA/DNA (GU 9) and Game Used Gamers with details of the photo-matches.
